I believe new media fosters creativity in a variety of ways. For example, many people have begun YouTube channels for make up tutorials, recipe videos (Tasty), and even video journals. The website Etsy.com has turned into an online marketplace where you can buy and sell handcrafted products. Instagram has been used by individuals creating their own content and building businesses off of what they are interested in. New media has encouraged user-generated content to the fullest.

Aside from social networking sites fostering creativity, virtual worlds inspire creativity as well. In After Second Life, Can Virtual Worlds Get a Reboot, a woman developed a virtual healing space for returning soldiers. Her idea was that this virtual healing space could lead to actual psychological healing spaces.
