P2P

File sharing can be defined as the practice or ability to transmit files from one computer to another over a network or the Internet. P2P file sharing is known as peer-to-peer file sharing. When it comes to file sharing, digital media can be described as a "milkshake." This is because everyone is sending and receiving files across the Internet.

An example of P2P file sharing is BitTorrent and it is one of the most successful peer-to-peer programs to date. According to the article "The BitTorrent Effect" written by Clive Thompson, approximately one third of all data sent across the Internet is through BitTorrent. If you miss your favorite TV show or don't want to wait for the movie to become a DVD someone has definitely posted it as a "torrent."Another P2P example is the website The Pirate Bay where users can post links and files for movies, shows, and music. They are then downloaded as a torrent.
